Many people don't realise that in some states even if they take your drivers license away
you can still get a license to drive a moped one state that I personally know of is Kansas
So if you live in Kansas and have a suspended license you could get a legal moped license
which may translate into a drivers license some months later in a different state.
I have also heard that Texas doesn't recognise some other states and as such if you apply for a drivers license in Texas and haven't had your license suspended by them they may give you a license.
California recently made some changes. If you have had your drivers license suspended and you are receiving General Relief (welfare) you may be able to have your license reinstated if you are homeless etc.
See if you think creatively you can come up with different ways to survive
if you have to.
You make about 20 thousand a year 15 years ago and are making child support payments but you are in arrears so they seize your bank account that has $650 in it but that was to cover the check for child support and your rent that month. Well the bank charges $50 for a levy so you the District Attorney only winds up getting $600 to start with but you had written checks for $300 child support $250 rent $75 Groceries so you now have $75 in nsf charges from the people you gave checks to plus the bank charges you nsf charges for the same checks so you are now $150 + $50 + $625 = $825 to the bad that month so you have to cover all the bounced checks that month and cannot pay the next months child support of 300 because they already got it plus wound up costing you an extra $200 for that month in nsf and levy fees.
Then lets say you are a construction worker but in your off season you drive to pay for your child support and you go to a place and they give what is called per diem to cover your daily expenses of living away from home. But you find that the District Attorney is taking not only half of your paycheck but also half of the money needed to cover your living expenses which makes it add up to more than 65% of your paycheck that they are taking So you have to quit that job because you just can not afford to live out of town and make minimum wage for a job that is hazardous to life and limb.
Okay cut to the chase they take your drivers license and now you cannot
drive to work anywhere legally so now no driving on a suspended license
charges start to build up but you can't afford to pay them either and
finally you have to spend time in jail.
Well this costs the government ie. taxpayers about $60,000 or more a year
to incarcerate someone. Plus all the time you cannot go to work because
you don't have a license you are not earning money so the government is
not collecting taxes on the money you are making.
Okay lets say that this has gone on for 15 years and your earnings ability
has gone from $20,000 a year to $80,000 over the course of those 15 years
so that is $1,000,000 that you theoretically could have made if they had
not taken the drivers license. Figure about 20% of that probably would
have went to income taxes. The government just cost themselves $200,000
in lost revenues and if in that time they put you in jail a few times
cost themselves another $20-$50,000. all to collect $60,000 in arrears
Another thing that you can do if you are ever jailed is to not call
anyone or put anyone on your visitor list and just do the time. This
is no fun I grant you but it actually has the tendency to
cause them to realize that you will not be paying them any money and
noone is going to be sending you money and you are going to be costing
them food, utilities and security. It is no fun but they generally tire
of supporting you before your sentence is up and try to release you
early.
Well that is not to be desired but if they think you like it they are less likely to do it. Think brerr rabbit and the tarbaby. If someone is trying to torture you and you are a masochist they will probably have much less fun. Remember "Little Shop of Horrors?" Anyway these are just tips to keep in mind if the worst should happen and you wind up on the street.
Boy our government sure is smart
When you have nothing there is nothing they can take from you but
every time they take you down they are cutting off their nose to spite
their face because if you never have anything your children will never
inherit anything then that will cause them to be poorer and more likely
to commit a crime or turn to drugs and it keeps getting worse.
If you fail in business they allow you bankruptcy protection under the
law but if you pick the wrong wife and she just wants to have another
baby like the song says so she can get more welfare and drugs you
just get crushed under the debt and there is no resolution except
to find a way to come up with that money. As a result one who was an
upstanding citizen with great potential turns into someone who is much
easier to manipulate with money. This is not a good idea no matter how
you look at it.
I remember my ex-wife always complaining about having to watch the kids
while I was at work.
I always said we get to watch them grow up and get to teach them how
to profit from our mistakes. We get to help shape the mind and destiny
of another human being. Isn't that wonderful? And yes if
you asked her, she is usually truthful, she would tell you I am not
making it up.
It is a miracle to bring another human being into the world. It is to
be treasured by all involved. I actually think that whoever gets
custody of the child should pay for the child since they are getting
all the benefits of having a child and the non custodial parent gets
little or none of it. I believe if this were the case a whole lot
of fathers would be getting custody of the children and a whole lot
of women who just wanted to be supported and so just had to have those
children would go find someone else to support them.
Now don't get me wrong there are a lot of good women out there, and
conversely there are a lot of bad ones but to make a debt
unforgivable and to take ones transportation rights away saying you
are poor so you can only ride a moped while I get a car with an air
conditioner and heater is unusual punishment and these unconstitutional laws need
to be repealed.
